    Description

ANTIQUE PAIR 1800s GLASS HYDROMETERS - G. TAGLIABUE, N.Y. PATENT OCT. 16TH 1866 - MEASURE LIQUOR PROOF - VERY GOOD CONDITION - RARE!
Up for your consideration is an amazing pair of 1800's-era glass hydrometers with a custom-made wooden holder to store and protect these delicate booze strength measuring instruments. These hydrometers are true survivors in that they were produced before year-1900, with one of the hydrometers verified produced before 1883! We confirmed this based on the active U.S. IRS Commissioner (Green B. Raum) at the time, who appears on the instrument. Incredible they have made it this long without breaking.
NOTE: These hydrometers typically were included in a case that contained a copper receptacle where liquor was poured for proof measurement. This pair does not include the copper receptacle or carrying case. At some time throughout the hydrometers' lives, an owner drilled holes into a solid wood block to store and protect them. The hydrometers will be carefully packed, separately, from the wooden block with both the wooden block and hydrometers secured in one shipment box.
We pack and ship with an abundance of care. SHIPS FAST VIA USPS PRIORITY MAIL usually same business day and at least within one business day.
