Description
I have the honor and privilege of selling the collection of an avid and discerning collector of Mauchline Ware consisting of transfer, checker, Parian and tartan ware with a smattering of a few other finishes. I will be listing them in bite size batches over the next several months so that over time collectors can absorb the depth and breadth of the collection. This gentleman amassed an amazing collection of pieces, some of which I have never seen before and I have seen many collectors' collections over the years. This working thermometer in the shape of an obelisk has three transfers dating back to the American Revolution; Old South Church, Boston, Mass., Bunker Hill Monument and Faneuil Hall, Boston. The piece is in overall excellent condition, I see only minimal, if any signs of wear, if any, and no serious damage. And as stated before, the thermometer appears to work....after all of these years.
The piece measures approximately 6 3/8" tall and is 2.5" square at the base. What a great piece of Americana!! White spots, if any, are camera glare. Successful buyer is responsible for shipping and insurance and payment must be received within ten (10) business days of the close of the auction or the sale may be voided. Thanks for your interest and good luck!
