    Description

PLEASE READ THIS DETAILED DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY!!!!!....Nice antique Victorian era wooden souvenir small bowl made by the Smith Bros of Mauchlin (Scotland) from Mom's huge collection of trinket/souvenirs/boxes.. These items were the first mass produced Victoria era travel souvenirs. They were made by William & Andrew Smith in Mauchline Scotland from the 1880s to the early 1900s.
The Smith Bros developed a way to transfer engravings onto the pale yellow tightly grained wood of the sycamore tree.
Some of the items they made were as follows: wooden boxes of all kinds, needle cases, page turners & bookmarks, napkin rings, pin-cushions, picture frames, darning & sewing eggs, pill & snuff boxes, glove stretchers, desk top items, etc. I will be listing mom's entire collection of Mauchline souvenir items (and a few Tartanware pieces as well) over the next few days. ****This item is a 3.25" in diameter x 1.25" tall wooden bowl with a "Bunker Hill Monument" scene....This monument is located in Boston, Massachusetts. It is in nice shape with some light marks/wear and there is a small "chip" on the top rim of the bowl  that involves two of the raised curved/edge pieces. See attached pic for this flaw.
