    TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION :
    (
Translated from "Guide Pratique de TELEGRAPHIE"
By Louis HOUZEAU - Paris 1881
    )
    <<
The KEY is a round dial in the center of which a crank swivels.
On the transmitter dial letters and figures are engraved in the same order that on the dial of the receiver.
Opposite each one of these signals there is a notch which allows stop the crank on the corresponding letter.
While turning the crank,  a small spring moves up and a two ways switch sends the electrical current on the
telegraph line and to the receiver of the corresponding station.
In order that the distant station can understand the correspondent , it is mandatory that the needle of the
receiver agrees always with the crank of the sending Key.  For that it is necessary that the needle and the
crank are always in the  " cross " position when the apparatus is not used.
    CALL:
To call the correspondent is perform to turn the 'in Line' switch
    ,
turn the crank for a while on the letter "A" and finish on the "cross" position.
Then the electric current will run
The Corespondent indicates "ready to receive" when placing its switch on the  "open line" position
by making a complete turn of crank;  Then he puts the needle on the
    "cross"
    position &
    the transmission can start.
