These white pants can be worn on the Shikoku henro and on other pilgrimages throughout Japan. They are an original product and can only be bought with us. They have been designed incorporating the wishes of many henro; they are more functional and much lighter. They have been designed to absorb and remove sweat and maintain body temperature, and also provide a dry, smooth, and comfortable feeling that lasts for the entirety of the pilgrimage. There is no need to worry about sunburn because of 99.5% UV and UPF 50+ protection.
The UPF rating indicates how effective a fabric is at blocking solar ultraviolet radiation. UPF ratings range from 15 to 50 with higher ratings indicating more effective blocking and therefore better protection for the wearer of a garment.
Fabrics that test higher than UPF 50 are rated as UPF50+.
Our new series of Hakui (white vest, 白衣) is 20% lighter (46g/0.10 pounds). It is machine-washable and wrinkle-free, so that you can start your pilgrimage journey each day feeling comfortable.
On the inside of Hakui and the pants, you will see a tag indicating the product has a ‘deodorizing/antibacterial effect’. We provide it with ventilation (mesh processing) on the
back of the knees and waist.
The pants have an elastic cord inside the waist, so you can easily adjust it to fit. There is also an elastic cord near the ankle, so that you can roll the pants up if the weather gets hot.
It is the most comfortable and functional white vest we have ever made, so please include it in your next purchase!
