UNUSUAL ANTIQUE ENGLISH SILVER SPARE LEAD HOLDER by SAMPSON MORDAN & Co c1870
A scarce antique English, solid sterling silver spare lead case; beautifully made by Sampson Mordan & Co, with fine engraved detail, and a pull lid opening to reveal tiny tubes to hold spare pencil leads.
A fabulous and unusual little thing....high quality & extremely collectable!
CONDITION
: All original and very, very good. Slightest signs of wear and shallow denting commensurate with age and use, some scratching to base, see pics - easily polished out. Closure tight & secure.
DATE/MARKS
: Around 1870/80. Stamped 'Mordan & Co' to the lid and 'M' to the base.
DIMENSIONS
: 20 mm tall, (1 inch = 25.4 mm).
WEIGHT
: Approx. 5.2 grams.
