Vintage 1950's Annie Laura Pottery Massachusetts State Shaped Souvenir Dish

$ 9.5

Description

Here is a vintage trinket dresser tray in the shape of the state of Massachusetts. It was made in California in the 1950s by Ed & Annie Laura Schell of Pico, CA (according to other collectors). If those collectors are correct, this charming little tray pre-dates 1958 when two communities merged to become Pio Rivera, California.
The sides and bottom are white. The top well is painted a soft pale green and Abby blue. Massachusetts is hand-painted across the center with the state flower - pink mayflower, on the opposite site. The glaze is thick and shiny. The dish edge is painted with a dark green line.
The back stamp is embossed with “Annie Laura". The original oval green paper label is attached and reads “Annie Laura Hand Painted USA”.
