Description
This entire set was done by hand and curated from the original maker, a war bride who emigrated to the US, and went along her journey last year. The most obvious item is the kimono with Lovely red silk and cotton lawn fabric, a summer apparel item. It features embroidery work in white in a floral motif, I think it’s a daisy. This item is more complex than your average kimono, with waist level flaps front and back. It’s a to the knee (dependent on height) garment. It may have been for a teen or pre teen girl, would fit small woman with ease.
There is a cotton gauze wrap top, which goes to the top of the hip and is sheer white.
There is also a bright, Multi color padded Obi and additional belt included. It’s four pieces total!
Thus Would fit a up to 32" chest/bust. Its 75 years old, but looks and smells really fresh, it was well stored.
This listing includes the Kimono and the double layer gauze under piece. The obi and extra belt (last two very colorful)
The gauze piece is vented in the arm pit area, and the yoke on the neckline has a second layer of organza in a very pale pink.
Interesting style on this Kimono, with belts attached in the back, and a welted guide below belt area, unsure if that is to add the obi, or what. UPDATED TO SHOW HOW IT WORKS>
This is from the estate of a dressmaker, kimono creator, Japanese friend.
photographed in several lights, all exterior. best representation of color is closer to warm orange-red tones, all sides are beautiful. Extensive hand stitching.
